Children

Moments Passed

Original Available

Oil and mixed media on perspex and board, 2019

In this painting, I wanted to capture a pensive moment of a little boy on a swing. Because you can’t see his face, I like the idea that we can insert ourselves or someone we love into the image. He is lost in his thoughts. What is he thinking about? How is he feeling?

Conversations

Original Available

Oil on canvas, 2023

In this painting, I wanted to capture an innocent moment of play. I think there is something beautiful in the wonder and imagination of children.

Boy

Original Sold

Charcoal and white chalk on paper, 2020

A sensitive drawing of a boy picking up a stick. I spent many walks as a kid playing with sticks in the woods. In this drawing, there is no setting or background. I find this reinforces the idea that the boy is lost in his own world. What is around him fades away, and his imagination takes all his focus.

By the River

Original Available

Oil on canvas, 2021

This painting captures a boy reflecting on something. The tip of his toe dips in the water, and this sensation seems like a pleasant distraction from what is going on in his mind. There is something beautiful when we let our senses engage in nature like this - whether it’s walking on a beach or gardening barefoot. It connects us to something other than ourselves and our thoughts and feelings. Each morning, I try to connect with nature in some way, and it helps me to get out of my head and all the worries of life! This painting is a reminder of that.

Bedtime Story

Original Available

Oil on canvas, 2021

This painting captures the magical nature of a child's imagination.

Summer's Afternoon

Original Available

Oil on panel, 2020

I feel like this painting captures the feeling of the swing, you can almost feel the wind when you look at it. The background is an array of colours, faded and out of focus, caturing the energy and movement of the little girl. There is something so care free about swinging which I wanted to capture. I think there will be lots of swings in heaven.

Friendship

Original Available

Oil on panel, 2020

In this painting I tried to capture what friendship is. Notice how the skin of the boy and the girl isn’t painted in but left as the same warm orange. This captures the warm feeling of connection and oneness friendship brings. There is no setting or background, almost as if the power of that connection can transcend our immediate surroundings. They could be in a beautiful garden or they could be in a war zone, but they have eachother.

Summer Walk

Original Available

Oil and mixed media on perspex and board, 2019

The bright colours of the background capture the colourful, imaginative world in which these two girls are walking.

Rain

Original Available

Oil on canvas, 2023

From the book Garden Song. An illustration for Psalm 72 - “May he be like rain”. The verse this painting illustrates is about God being like rain watering the earth. Often in the Bible, God’s love is compared to water, sustaining life and growth within us and around us. I like to think of Him as being like a gardener, pruning branches, watering the soil, and planting seeds.

Encouragement

Original Available

Oil on canvas, 2025

This painting is about the power of friendship. The boy on the right leans across to support his friend, his hand gently resting on his back. For me, I often need others’ encouragement to lift my spirits and to help me to keep going. This painting is a reminder of the power of encouragement and also a reminder that we are not alone.

Figurative

Garden

Original Available

Oil on canvas, 2023

From the book Garden Song. Illustrating Psalm 85 - “Faithfulness will spring up from the ground”. This is a painting about new life and about the hands that plant new life within us. The plant is springing up, its leaves are lush and green, eager to grow. The hands are delicate and full of care. For me, the painting is about something being planted within us.

Inferno

Original Available

Oil on canvas, 2023

From the book Garden Song. Illustration for Psalm 39 - “While I mused, the fire burned”. This painting is about the feeling of passion. Her heart is glowing, and the fiery red echoes what she is experiencing. The word passion comes from the Latin ‘pati’, which means “suffer”. So what we are passionate about is what we are willing to suffer for. I think it is important to let our passions engulf us, like an inferno, because then we are completely transformed and ready to walk in that transformation.

The Art of Giving

Original Available

Oil on Canvas, 2023

From the book Garden Song. Illustrating Psalm 82 - “Give justice to the weak”. This painting is about charity and how small acts of kindness and generosity can make a huge difference. The warm colours of the painting mimic the warm feeling that generosity brings, both to the giver and the receiver. There is bright white around the hands and the bread, almost as if it is illuminating the surrounding darkness, as if it is these acts of kindness that light up dark spaces, both in us and around us.

Glory

Original Sold

Oil on canvas, 2020

A painting capturing freedom and embracing the light. It is about the moments in life when we are truly grateful.

Grace

Original Available

Oil on Canvas, 2022

This painting is about connection. I often feel like there is something so elegant about horses, and they almost embody grace in how they move and their character. I feel like the girl is coming out of a state of tension, shown by her slightly tense shoulders and pensive expression. The horse here acts as a comforter, moving towards her in grace, meeting her where she is and helping her to elevate past her worries into the present.

Salvation

Original Sold

Charcoal on paper, 2022

From the book Garden Song, illustrating Psalm 107 - “His steadfast love endures forever”. This painting is about the power of Christ’s love for us. Notice how Jesus’ hand on the right is drawn with definition, with a pronounced vein running through his arm - full of life with light beaming around it. However, the other hand on the left is fading away, into darkness. His arm comes from high, pressing into the picture, stretching out, moving towards the other hand. In contrast, this hand is being pulled away out of the picture, whilst simultaneously reaching out. This drawing illustrates Jesus’ love for us, reaching out after us in the darkness but also the simultaneous contrast of resistance and longing which we have to receive that love and life. It reminds me of Michelangelo’s Last Judgement painting in the Sistine Chapel, which illustrates the spiritual battle of faith.

Gloria

Original Available

Charcoal on paper, 2021

From the book Unveiled and my illustration for Mirium. In this drawing, I wanted to capture a moment of worship and joy. The fact that it is a black and white drawing with no colour gives the effect of something that happened in the past, a memory. In life, moments like this are few and far between, but their value and importance to us are powerful and shape who we are. In this drawing, I wanted to capture this, so the viewer can be reminded of moments of connection and joy with friends in the past.

The Violinist

Original Available

Oil on canvas, 2023

In this painting I wanted to capture the essence of music. The beautiful song of her violin is not just for her, but for the world as she plays it to the open window.

Golden Hour

Original Available

Oil on Canvas, 2023

From the book Garden Song. An illustration for Psalm 57 - “Awake, my soul!”. This painting is about a soulful awakening. Through the colours and composition, I wanted to capture a feeling of immersive peace. The gold field, which she is immersed in, adds a rich and almost sacred tone, capturing the sanctity of what she is experiencing.

Family

New Light

Original Available

Oil and mixed media on perspex and board, 2019

From the book unveiled, an illustration of Hannah. In the Bible, Hannah’s story is one of faith and surrender. She was barren for many years, which caused her great anguish. However, through much prayer, she gave birth to a son whom she dedicated to God; this son then became the Prophet Samuel. In this painting, I wanted to capture her gentleness and connection with Samuel.

Brothers

Original Sold

Oil and mixed media on perspex and board, 2019

This painting is about the connections we have with our siblings and close friends. They are supporting one another and listening to each other. I have two brothers myself, and so I wanted to capture that love and connection.

Memories

Original Sold

Oil on canvas, 2023

From the book Garden Song. Illustrating Psalm 33 - “Steadfast love…the thoughts of his heart to all generations”. Painted with loose brushstrokes and left undefined and faded, this painting almost feels like a memory. It captures the connection between generations, the guiding, supportive hand of a grandfather walking alongside his grandson.

Family Walk

Original Available

Oil on canvas, 2020

This painting is about the strength of a mother. Her posture is strong and upright, and she looks ahead with confidence. So much rests on her, and she carries her children, guiding and supporting them as they grow up.

Refuge

Original Available

Charcoal on paper, 2022

From the book Garden Song. Illustrating Psalm 4 - “In peace I will lie down and sleep”. In this drawing I wanted to capture peace and rest. A baby sleeping, nestled up to its mother, is one of the safest places and feelings. I wanted to capture that feeling and for the viewer to feel a similar peace when they look at it.

New Life

Original Available

Oil on panel, 2021

From the book Unveiled. Illustrating Shiprah and Puah - “The Rebel Midwives”. The bright white around the baby creates a feeling of abundance and life. In this painting I wanted to capture a sense of the miracle of new life, and the innocence and beauty of it.

Time

Original Available

Charcoal on paper, 2023

From the book Garden Song. An illustration for Psalm 71 - “Do not cast me off in the time of old age”. This drawing is about support between generations. The old man’s hand receives the innocent and pure love of the younger hand that rests gently above. I am blessed to have great relationships with my grandparents, and they pass down so much wisdom and love to me.

Romance

As One

Original Available

Oil on canvas, 2021

This painting is about the connection of a couple who have just been engaged. Her engagement ring is the focal point of the picture, and his thumb gently rests on the top of her hand. It is about the support and comfort that two people can give one another.

Embrace

Original Available

Oil on panel, 2020

This painting was initially made on a collage background. I then wanted the background to be plain blue, but because of the underlying collage, there are vertical creases. This not only creates a raw and textured effect, but it also gives the impression of falling rain. The painting is titled “Embrace” and is about the ecstasy and passion of love and how romantic love feels. The woman’s arm stretched out, leaving her body vulnerable. The man clings to her, fixing her gaze with care and sensitivity, not letting go.

Sunset Song

Original Available

Oil on canvas, 2022

This painting is about romantic connection and the moments of life where our hearts feel full. Her head rests on his shoulder, leaning on him and his song. He looks into the distance, content. The warm colours of the painting portray the warmth they both feel in their hearts. The beaming light that shines around them like a halo illustrates the power of love that lights everything up - making us feel truly alive and free.

Wild West

The Journey

Original Available

Oil on canvas, 2024

This painting captures a cowboy journeying through the wilderness. One step at a time, he crosses the country. For me, it is a reflection on how great journeys are made in small, individual steps.
